Dear friends:
We are pleased to announce that our 53rd Anniversary Celebration Banquet will take place B'Ezrat Hashem on Sunday evening, May 19, 2013, at the Lawrence Country Club, Lawrence, NY.
We are privileged to pay tribute to Yossi & Tzippy Kaniel and Yisrael & Miri Lax as our Guests of Honor. Far too often, we all get involved in our daily activities and do not have an opportunity to extend our gratitude to those wonderful individuals who have been so kind to our Kehillah as a whole, as well as to each of us as individuals. Yossi and Yisrael have been our Gabbaim for some 15 years and have extended every possible courtesy to guests of our Shul, in addition to accommodating members with their preferred kibud and Shul t’filah needs. Naturally, this Herculean task of being our Gabbaim was done with the support and encouragement of their respective wives, Tzippy and Miri, whom we thank so very much as well.
Our Keser Shem Tov Award will be presented to Steven & Sandy Dua in recognition of their many years of service to our Shul and our community. Sandy has the distinction of having served the Women’s League a number of times as its President, in addition to serving for countless hours on all of the Women’s League committees. Steven has been President of our Shul, as well as having held numerous other positions, and currently serves as Gabbai. The Dua family’s dedication and devotion to individuals, who are in need, members and non-members alike, are longstanding. We extend our thanks to the Dua family, who are an integral part of all of our Shul activities.
We have the very special opportunity of bestowing the honorary title of Chaver to an outstanding individual who sets the example for each of us. Sidney Pfeiffer and his wife Fruma are certainly two of our most dedicated and hardest-working members. In a very quiet and unassuming way, they had been the guiding force of our Mishloach Manos program, which is one of the most successful fundraising events of our Kehillah. Fruma and Sidney are also very much involved in the Kew Gardens Hills community, especially caring for others. They have taken time from their daily schedules in order to provide whatever is necessary in order to help those who are in need. How fortunate we are to have the Pfeiffer family as part of our Shul. May Hashem continue to bless them and their family with good health and to continue their acts of kindness.
Our anniversary celebration gives us the opportunity to acknowledge the selfless and hard-working Kaniel, Lax, Dua, and Pfeiffer families for their efforts on behalf of our Young Israel.
Dinner reservations are $180 per person, as will be noted on the formal invitation. We look forward to your favorable response in attending this major Shul function. Payment in full is requested with your reservation. In addition, you will have the opportunity to support our Kehillah with your listing on our Shul’s categorized Scroll of Honor.
Thank you for your support in these difficult times. We look forward to greeting you personally on May 19.
Respectfully yours,
Allen Gottfried
